Warm evening last night but cooler this morning. The weather shows warm today and really warm on Thursday. Deb and I drove up to the J. Maynard Miller Black Gum Swamp (named after my Uncle Maynard. The black gum (tupelo) tree is pretty rare in Vermont, and my uncle did a lot of work over the years helping create trails so people in Vernon could have a nice place to hike.
Dave, Milo and Deb drove to Putney, where our brother Reed and his wife Kathy and daughter Marisa run a vegetable farm with CSA’s and farmers markets. After getting sidetracked with the big rhubarb delivery, they now have to focus on getting all the plants in the ground. And it's going to be really hot today and the next. The joys of farming. Slaves to the weather just like all our ancestors.
Our brother Dick also drove down from Westminster so all four of us brothers are getting back together. Milo is doing a family history so he needs these guys to get the stories straight (or straighter anyway) as the fish get bigger and the cars get faster as the years go by. At our ages we should do this more often. We always have a good time together and re-tell all the old stories of growing up on the farm.
We broke up the party and headed back to Vernon for burgers on Dave's grill and the final episode of Ted Lasso. Another great day.
