Deb here again. Woke up to yet another gorgeous day… Vermont is pulling out all the stops for our visit! After coffee/tea Erick cooked us all breakfast. Hannah, Erick, John, and I went for a walk in the Hard’Ack park in St. Albans. The park is a ski hill with a tow, and all kinds of trails have been cut through the woods, along with a disc golf course. A really beautiful walk through lovely woods and so nice to be in a green northeastern forest once again.
We returned to the house and had lunch that Erick put together using leftovers from last night’s dinner. We’ve been here less than 24 hours and we’re already getting spoiled by Erick and Hannah’s good cooking! In the afternoon the 5 of us loaded into E and H’s Honda Fit and went for a drive. Erick took us to the Mississquoi National Wildlife Refuge, which we all decided merits a longer visit at some point in the future. He also drove us through downtown Swanton and again, Vermont is looking its most spectacular ever. We were on a quest for a maple creemee, but the creemee stand we wanted to go to had an extra long line, so we decided to skip it.
At 4 we drove to Don and Lesleigh’s for a hot dog cookout around their firepit. A good time was had by all, with a picture perfect evening including hot dogs, drinks and appetizers, and even s’mores for dessert. Lesleigh and Don were so welcoming to us moochers! After dinner they brought out their guitar and mandolin, along with extra ukeleles and guitars for the rest of us to play. We had an impromptu music jam/sing along around the fire. At 8 we said our goodbyes and headed back to Meg’s house and off to our van for bed. Another wonderful day with family!
